The Inspiration behind My first Dragon Ball AMV

The Inspiration behind My first Dragon Ball AMV
Akira Toriyama

I was rewatching the first saga of Dragon Ball, one of my favorite anime classics... and it just so happened that I received the news that its author, Akira Toriyama, had passed away...

I felt a shift inside me and started crying...

I acknowledge that I have spent countless hours watching and rewatching his masterpiece, Dragon Ball. A person’s soul is often reflected in their work, especially in something as passionate and creative as this. So, in a way, I feel like I know Akira Toriyama better than some of the people close to me.

Well, that led me to feel inspired to create a Dragon Ball AMV—my first one. And for me, it had to be epic.

In that case I based the AMV on Goku’s "Hero’s Path" story from the first Dragon Ball saga, where he starts from the "void" and grows through each challenge and adventure until he becomes the hero who defeats the ruthless Piccolo.

My thoughts were about describing the fantasy universe Toriyama created—the legend of the Dragon Balls, and Goku going from one adventure to the next ahead on the Kinton cloud. From training under Master Roshi, to being challenged by the Red Ribbon Army’s generals, and ultimately unleashing one of his most powerful Kamehame-ha against Piccolo’s devastating energy attack.

In the next articles, I will show you the whole process to make the AMV...
